Are Grandpas the original hipsters? My grandpa dresses better than me. Actually, my grandpa and my baby both dress better than me.
I love the smart, comfortable and timeless style that grandpas have. They seem to always have their shirts pressed and know how to perfectly layer a wool vest and work a houndstooth blazer. Lil' G is working his 'grandpa' look, wearing his rich, deep-forest green wool vest with an avant-garde twist: these black and white organic cotton leggings made by a Germany-based company, Macarons, (can find these also at Carousel in NY). Baby girls: don't fret - these are unisex; pair them with anything, such as a tutu or tunic dress and look even more fab!
Back to the 'grandpa' wool sweater vest - it's a must have in any one's closet. Nui Organics makes this fabulous vest from premium organic merino wool. Most of their design accommodates for growth with fold back cuffs and expanding waistlines. And you know me, I love practical. Nui is all about purity, durability and quality -- no harsh chemicals, meaning their fabric is kind to your baby's skin and to the earth as well.
Finally, I found this great teether toy that's plush but also makes this crinkly sound and comes with a pair of bright yellow feet for gnawing. Lil' G loves it (it's his top 10) and it met my 4 Cs criteria: cuddly, cute, crinkly...and cheap! You can get this Peter Rabbit for under $14.00 and your baby's gums will love you for it.
Now, if I can only get everything from my grandpa's closet in my size.
